Telehealth Therapy
Meaningful therapy isn't defined by where we meet. It's defined by the work we do together.
Telehealth: More Than a Convenient Option
I'll be honest. I initially came into telehealth somewhat reluctantly. Like many therapists, I deeply valued the experience of sitting together in the same room and questioned whether virtual therapy could provide the same level of connection, depth, and effectiveness.
The pandemic challenged that perspective and encouraged many of us to reconsider how meaningful therapeutic work could still happen outside of a traditional office setting.
While I continue to believe there are aspects of in-person therapy that cannot be fully replicated virtually, I have also come to genuinely appreciate telehealth as an effective and valuable way to provide care. For some people, it is the most practical option. For others, it becomes the only realistic way to access support during a difficult season of life.
Telehealth Through a Systems Lens
One of the unexpected benefits of telehealth is that therapy often takes place within the environments where daily life is actually happening. Rather than leaving home, work, or other important settings behind, clients are often participating in therapy from the very places where many of their stressors, routines, relationships, and patterns unfold.
Working virtually sometimes allows us to better understand not only what you're experiencing internally, but also how your environment, relationships, and everyday systems may be influencing your emotional well-being and daily functioning. You may be in the environment in which some of the issues exist.
Whether sessions take place in my office or through a computer screen, my therapeutic approach remains the same: helping clients better understand themselves, identify patterns, and create meaningful, lasting change.
My Approach to Telehealth
My style remains direct, thoughtful, relational, and engaged regardless of where sessions occur. I recommend using video whenever possible, as it allows for greater relational connection, communication, and collaboration throughout the therapeutic process.
Video sessions are conducted through a secure, encrypted telehealth platform designed to protect your confidentiality and privacy. Sessions may be accessed using a computer, tablet, or smartphone from a private location anywhere within Colorado.
If you're considering telehealth or would like to discuss whether virtual therapy is a good fit for your needs, I welcome you to reach out for more information or to schedule a consultation.
For some clients, telehealth also reduces barriers that might otherwise interfere with consistency in therapy, including:
Busy schedules
Parenting responsibilities
Work demands
Transportation concerns
Health limitations
Rural location or travel distance
Anxiety related to attending in-person appointments
Difficulty balancing multiple responsibilities
